SRMC's Sleep Center Awarded Accreditation From The Joint Commission
October 5, 2017
Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is announcing that its Sleep Center has earned The Joint Commission's (TJC) Gold Seal of Approval® for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation by demonstrating compliance with TJC's nationally recognized guidelines for safe and effective patient care.
To achieve this certification, SRMC's Sleep Center underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site survey. During the review, a TJC expert determined that the center met or exceeded quality standards related to a variety of areas, including the coordination of patient care; procedure monitoring; infection prevention and control; medication management; and patient education and training.
"Up to 70 million Americans may not enjoy the benefits of a good night's rest due to sleep disorders, but with the proper diagnosis and treatment, most people can manage their conditions and restore the quality of sleep that is vital to their overall health," said Malinda Miller, RRT, RPSGT, SRMC's Sleep Center Supervisor. "Earning this accreditation further acknowledges our staff's commitment to ensuring the highest level of care for patients suffering from sleep disorders, with the goal of helping them improve their quality of life."
SRMC's Sleep Center offers diagnostic studies and treatment recommendations for a wide range of sleep-related conditions, including sleep apnea, insomnia, periodic leg movements, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy and snoring. Sleep studies may be scheduled with a physician's referral.
