Salem Regional Medical Center Offering Teen Volunteer Opportunity
April 5, 2018
Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) invites local teens to participate in a rewarding and worthwhile volunteer experience from June 4 to August 17. Area high school students ages 16 through college graduation are invited to apply for the SRMC teen volunteer program.
According to Amy Reed, Director of Development at SRMC, volunteering in this program gives students a unique opportunity to acquire non-clinical experience in a hospital environment while gaining the personal satisfaction of helping others in their community. "SRMC is excited to offer our teen volunteer program again this year, and the students selected will obtain valuable hands on experience for their future career and life paths."
Teen Volunteer BenefitsDuring the summer program, students are asked to donate a minimum of 40 service hours. After the completion of each 20 hours of volunteer time, the student will be eligible to shadow an SRMC staff member/clinical professional. Only students that volunteer as part of the summer teen program will be eligible to continue volunteering throughout the school calendar year.
Application ProcessTo participate, students are required to submit an application and a letter of recommendation, complete an onsite interview and attend an orientation class by May 7. Applications for the SRMC teen volunteer program are available by emailing your request to firstname.lastname@example.org or stopping by the Development Department office located at 1995 E. State Street, Salem, during regular business hours. Applications will be accepted now through April 21, 2018.
