Visiting Your Loved One in the Hospital

General Visiting Guidelines

The staff at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) recognizes that visits from family members and loved ones are important to the healing process of our patients.

If you will be visiting a patient in SRMC, please consider his or her needs before your arrival. While there are no formal visiting hours, you may want to call before leaving home to make certain your loved one is not scheduled for testing and is ready to receive company. Many patients love visitors, but some just don't feel up to it.

In addition, if you are not feeling well, please consider delaying your visit, so as not to share any illness that could be contagious. Expressing your well wishes through a phone call or Smile Makers electronic greeting card is a nice alternative to visiting, if you are not feeling well.

Visits by Children

Children under the age of 14 are permitted to visit patients in the hospital, when they are accompanied by an adult.

Mail and Flowers

While staying in the hospital, patients may receive mail and flowers from family and friends. Any mail or flowers received after a patient's discharge will be forwarded to the person's home address. Flowers and other gift items are available for purchase at the Look Nook Gift Shop, located on SRMC's ground floor concourse.

Safety Alert - No Latex: Due to the allergic reactions that are caused by latex balloons and products, only mylar balloons may be delivered to the hospital.
